Brushing & Flossing
Most cavities and gum problems are decided long before you sit in a chair — they're decided in the bathroom, twice a day. Done correctly, brushing and flossing are the single most powerful thing you can do for your teeth.

Brushing technique
Hold the brush at a 45° angle to the gumline. Use short, gentle strokes — back and forth on chewing surfaces, and small circles on the inner and outer surfaces. Don't scrub — pressure damages enamel and gums.
Why flossing matters
Brushing only reaches three of the five surfaces of each tooth. Flossing gets the contact areas between teeth — where most cavities and gum issues actually start. Once a day is enough, but it has to be every day.
